October 2009 - City of the Tribes (Part 1)

Galway and Cliffs of Moher
Galway or Gaillimh in Irish, with a population of over 70,000, is Ireland's fifth largest city and is a major hub for visits to West Ireland. It has long since been known as "The City of the Tribes" and this is due to the multicultural vibrancy of present-day Galway.

The Cliffs of Moher is located in County Clare, Ireland. The cliffs rise 120 m (400 ft) above the Atlantic Ocean at Hag's Head, and reach their maximum height of 214 m (702 ft) just north of O'Brien's Tower, eight kilometers away. The cliffs boast one of Ireland's most spectacular views.
Let the pictures do the talking...Photobucket

It appears to be the remains of a watchtower placed to monitor the coastline for invading fleets during Napoleon's reign in Europe.PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketThe landscape around the Cliff of MoherPhotobucket

Meanwhile comment what you think of the Cliffs?

September 2009 - Trip to the Seasides

Howth and Bray
Howth is a small town northeast of Dublin. It is pretty near to Dublin and from my knowledge it is better to take the DART, a fast train service, from Dublin's city center. Return ticket costs €3.80 from Connolly, Tara or Pearse stations in the City Centre and is valid one day. There are trains every 15 minutes. Take the train north to Howth. You will arrive near the Harbour. The train takes between 25 and 30 minutes from Connolly Station.
The old town and the harbor are very traditional. There are interesting ruins higher in the hills, and an oldtomb west of the harbor. However, I have only been to the harbor and walked along the stores that sells fresh seafood and along the coast.
Here are the pictures:

Bray is a historic seaside town, and satellite town of Dublin on the East Coast of Ireland, located in Co. Wicklow. Bray has been a place of importance since the twelfth century, and there were two castles there in mediaeval times, one of which still survives at Oldcourt. Bray is on the DART Network and a ticket to Dublin costs €2.50 for one way.
The beach at Bray is very nice and there is a Hill with a cross at the top of it which I climbed. The experience is awesome but do note if you want to go up, you have to be mentality prepared that the journey up is a tough one enjoy the pictures =)
